With back to school just around the corner, I know that our evening chaos will soon be here. Â Between late nights at work, helping with the kids’ homework, and shuttling everyone around to their various activities, getting dinner on the table can sometimes be a challenge in itself. Â When time is at a premium, you can’t beat a quick and easy pasta meal and this homemade spaghetti sauce is the best! Â Toss together a nice side salad and you have a delicious meal that can be prepared in no time.
This spaghetti sauce is an old family recipe that my Mom always used to make when I was growing up – my aunt calls it her “Canadian Spaghetti Sauce” – and there is just no comparison with any of the other spaghetti sauces that I have tried.  It’s just creamy, cheesy goodness! 🙂
- 1 lb. ground beef {or 1 package veggie ground for vegetarian}
- 3 cans tomato soup
- ½ tsp. garlic
- ½ tsp. basil
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- ½ package cream cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat until thoroughly cooked and drain.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the ground beef {or veggie ground}, tomato soup, garlic and basil. Stir occasionally, bringing it to a low boil.
- Reduce heat and add the shredded cheese and cream cheese to the sauce. Stir to melt ad simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- This is quite a thick sauce so you could add a little water or milk if you prefer your sauce a little thinner.
The sauce freezes well, so you might just want to make up an extra batch or two to keep on hand!

I’ve never made my own spaghetti sauce but this recipe makes it sound so easy that I think I’ll give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing at Share The Wealth Sunday!

I may have missed something, but, what kind of shredded cheese?
Jenn Lifford says
I usually use cheddar but I’m sure other kinds would taste great too. 🙂
