This cute and colorful turkey veggie pizza makes the perfect Thanksgiving appetizer! It’s quick and easy to make and always a party hit!

Thanksgiving Appetizers

I think my favorite party food is always the appetizers! I would gladly skip the real turkey at Thanksgiving for this crescent roll turkey veggie pizza. Last Christmas I made a Christmas wreath veggie pizza so I thought I would try to make a Thanskgiving version. I think I might love this one even more and the veggie pizza recipe is always a crowd pleaser. If you’re looking for a new Thanksgiving appetizer to try, I’m sure this one will be a hit!

Turkey Veggie Pizza

This cute and colorful turkey veggie pizza makes the perfect Thanksgiving appetizer! It's always a huge party hit and is quick and easy to make.

Course Appetizer
Keyword crescent rolls, Thanksgiving
Prep Time 35 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes
Total Time 47 minutes
Servings 24

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls {regular size}
  • 1 package {8 oz.} cream cheese Allow to warm to room temperature or place in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1-2 tbsp vegetable seasoning You can also use other seasonings such as dill, rosemary, or basil. Pick your favorites or mix it up!
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 red pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 yellow pepper, finely chopped
  • grape tomatoes, sliced in half
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 2 candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 375F.

  2. Unroll the dough and separate one of the rectangular sections (2 crescent roll sections). On a lightly floured surface, cut out the turkey head shape and set aside.

  3. Take the remaining dough and roll into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, press it out into a circle (approximately 11 inch diameter) Ensure the thickess is uniform.

  4. Transfer the turkey body and the turkey head to an ungreased baking sheet. I used two trays but they could be placed on one tray if needed. Bake the head for approximately 6 minutes and the body for 11-12 minutes or until golden brown. The baking time can really vary depending on the thickness of the dough, so be sure to check it regularly to avoid burning on the bottom. If your pastry is puffing up a lot, you can poke it with a fork so it doesn't rise as high. Remove from oven and cool completely.

  5. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, sour cream and seasonings until well combined and smooth. Spread evenly over the crust. Add the shredded carrots, then the peppers, and top with the mini tomatoes.

  6. Place turkey head over body. Cut a beak from a piece of carrot and use a small piece of the top of the red pepper for the snood. You can use a small amount of the cream cheese mixture to secure pieces to the head.

  7. While you can serve this immediately, I prefer it chilled. Cover with Saran wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours prior to serving.

Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza Tips

  • Heat the cream cheese in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften it up before mixing it with the sour cream.
  • If you want to make the pizza the night before, just leave off the tomatoes until serving time. Refrigerate and cover well with Saran wrap.
  • Add extra flavor by using chive or garlic and herb cream cheese.
  • Try mixing up the herbs and seasonings for different flavor combinations. Dill, thyme, basil, parsley, rosemary, ranch seasoning – whatever you like!
  • I don’t like the crust to be too thick so I prick it with a fork about half way through baking time so it doesn’t rise as much.
  • Use any combination of red, orange, and yellow vegetables that you would like. You could also chop the carrots instead of shredding.

Let me know if you try it! I’d love to see all of the veggie pizza turkeys out there! 🙂
