Berry Peach Smoothie Recipe

Hey friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!  We may have gone a bit overboard with the Easter chocolate around here and I am definitely feeling it today. I’m trying to get back to my smoothie kick today

Blackberry Peach Smoothie. Not too sweet and packed with nutrients.

This smoothie recipe is thick and creamy without being too sweet.  You can always substitute other berries for the blackberries but I love the little bit of tartness that they bring to smoothies.  This is a definite favorite with both me and my kiddos!

Blackberry Peach Smoothie. You can always substitute other berries too but the blackberries provide a nice tart taste so it is not too sweet.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen blackberries {or other fruit}
  • 1 peach {pit and skin removed} or equivalent of canned peaches
  • 6 ounces {170 grams} peach or vanilla Greek yogurt {regular yogurt will work too but won’t be as creamy}
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp wheat germ
  • 2-3 ice cubes

Mix all ingredients together and enjoy!  This is meant for one serving but I usually like to divide it up and have the second half a couple of hours later just to keep me going longer. 🙂

Blackberry Peach Smoothie - Not too sweet and loaded with nutrients!
If you are interested in knowing some of the health benefits of the ingredients, here is a quick rundown for you…

BLACKBERRIES – Blackberries have antioxident properties and contain vitamin C, iron, calcium, potassium, and fiber.

PEACHES – Peaches are relatively low in sugar and contain antioxident and anticancer properties as well as niacin, potassium, and vitamin A.

ALMOND MILK – Almond milk contains more nutrients than other dairy alternatives and is low in sugar and calories {only 35 calories for the 1/2 cup} and contains no cholesterol.  It is high in potassium which helps to promote healthy blood pressure and also provides calcium and Vitamin D for bone health.  Almond milk is a good source of vitamin E {which is good for skin health} as well as smaller amounts of Vitamin A, riboflavin, and iron.

WHEAT GERM – Wheat germ is great to add to smoothies and provides extra protein and fiber content {to make you feel full longer}.  It also is source of thiamin, vitamin E, omega -3 fatty acids, B vitamins and a variety of minerals.

GREEK YOGURT – Thanks to it’s excellent source of probiotics, Greek yogurt helps with healthy digestion, improved lactose intolerance, lowered cholesterol, and improved immunity {just make sure the yogurt you purchase includes “live and active cultures” on the label to maximize the probiotic potential}.  Greek yogurt is also a good source of calcium and can also be helpful with weight loss.  In it’s plain form, it is higher in protein and lower in sugar than regular yogurt {just watch for added sugar in flavor varieties}.

    This smoothie sounds delicious! I just recently bought a Vitamix so I’m all over new smoothie ideas. Thanks for the recipe, pinned to my delicious drinks board!

      I think I got the lids at Pick My Plum? A lot of online party stores have them too. 🙂

    love it!! we picked blackberries this weekend (I live in GA. and they are ready!) and bought fresh picked peaches! This smoothie is really good, aside from all the blackberry seeds!

      Oh wow! They are ready so early there! I have to wait for ours until the end of August! I didn’t seem to have any problems with seeds in mine. I wonder if it has to do with what blender you use?
