We have been working on finally finishing things up in our basement for this month’s Household Organization Diet. I have spent a lot of time getting things decluttered and organized down there, and it is actually starting to feel like there is an end in sight. We just had some painting done and new board and batten installed {more on that in a later post}, and it is looking so much lighter and brighter!
Now I’m not sure if it is just me, but I have a really hard time putting holes in a newly painted room. I’m always stressed about making a mistake and creating a big mess on my flawless wall. I really don’t enjoy painting, so the thought of having to putty, sand, and re-paint often scares me away from putting things up.
I am in the process of creating a gallery wall for that big open space above the chairs, but in the mean time, I have been slowly getting the rest of the wall decor back up again. I had all of the previous holes puttied up as I wasn’t sure where I was going to put everything, and most of the things that were up before have been changed or moved around. You know how that goes, right? 😉
Hanging up picture frames and other wall decor can definitely be a bit of a tedious process with all of the measuring and leveling that needs to be done. For me, it was always a two man job and it would often take me a while to convince my hubby to come and help me. Thankfully, I found some amazing products from Under the Roof Decorating to help make the process of hanging a picture frame {or anything else!} a whole lot quicker and simpler! I can even do a lot of it all on my own so there is no waiting around for Dave. I’d say that he was just as happy about this part as me!

The Hang and Level makes it easy to hang any sized picture frame. I found it easiest to use on a frame with a central hook but it can also work on frames and other wall decor with multiple hooks like the wall organizer that we hung above our desk.
To use, all you need to do is to hang your frame up on the hook{s}, position it on your wall where you want the frame to be, and then remove the frame without removing the tool. Once the frame is removed, you just press the button on the hook and it leaves a nice, small mark on the wall for you to place your nail or screw. No messing around with a pencil and tape measure! I also really loved the Deco Screws – all of the strength of an anchor and screw in one with no drill required!
Instead of having to haul out the drill, put in an anchor, and then screw in a screw, you just need one deco screw and your handy ol’ manual screwdriver. I was easily able to put it in myself and one deco screw holds up to 30 lbs. There is the perfect sized ledge to hold your frame between the top of the screw and the head, so it can be used on a variety of hanging hardware.
The Deco Screws work great to hold heavier items such as clocks, larger picture frames, or mirrors. There are also Deco Nails for lighter items {up to 20 lbs.} but I like to err on the cautious side and use screws for most of our wall decor. With two boys around here, you just never know what will happen!
Speaking of little boys causing trouble, one of the other products that I really liked were these Anchor points.
You basically stick them to the bottom of your frames with the adhesive backing and then the little pin pokes into the wall to keep the frame straight – even when bumped!
We have a lot of these Ikea frames around the house and they often seemed to go a little off kilter. The anchor points worked great for keeping them straight {and my little OCD heart happy!}

Oh gosh. I’ve got a STACK of pictures to hang up.. they’ve been in a stack on the dining room table for the past 2 years… and I keep getting more pictures taken, framing them.. and then adding them to the stack!
My two year old just pulled down the hook where we hang our coats…so, I would love to hang that back up! We also just moved so we have a lot of pictures, shelves, etc. to hang up…this would be awesome.

Altho i most likely have all I need to hang pictures, etc. the old way, this looks like something I want to have available when I want to hang art on my walls without always having to ask hubs to help (and have to listen to his grumbling why I need to hang anything). While he’s outside i can get job done on my own. How does he think I painted and hung art while he was on road trucking when we lived in MT and KY? Also moved heavy furniture including big tv so I could paint walls.) I like being able to do things on my own. So bring on the new ideas of hanging art. Happy week

I had two boys and older girl first (with boys being 16 months apart), Could they tear up things if I wasn’t watching. Youngest one was worst, we called him Tasmanian devil, no kidding. He entertained us all at meals, not a bad boy just full of being a boy. He got son just like him too, paybacks are hard. Luckily my last child is a girl, phew.

Those would work great for me. I can’t draw a straight line and my picture hanging skills tend to be a little lower or higher on one side. This would help me a lot to hang them straight!
