S’mores in a Jar Recipe

S’mores are definitely a summer favorite around here, but it’s not always practical to roast marshmallows over the fire. These s’mores in a jar deliver that same yummy s’mores taste without all of the work. They’re  so simple to whip up and will be a big hit with both the adults and the kiddos! Who doesn’t love a good s’mores recipe?/>

S'mores in a Jar

Course Dessert
Keyword s'mores recipes, summer dessert recipes, summer recipes
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes
Servings 5 jars

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix {plus ingredients listed on the box} You will need one cupcake for each serving. Save leftovers in an air tight container.
  • 1 package box chocolate mousse {plus ingredients listed on box} Each package will make 4-5 servings.
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 10 graham crackers, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare cake batter and bake as directed for 24 cupcakes. Allow cupcakes to cool completely.

  2. Prepare chocolate mousse as directed and chill until ready to use.

  3. When you are ready to assemble the jars, slice the top off of the cupcakes {cutting the cupcake horizontally in half}. Place the bottom half in the jar and add a layer of chocolate mousse.
  4. Place mini-marshmallows on a baking sheet and broil them in the oven for a couple of minutes. Keep the oven door open so you can keep a close eye on them to avoid burning. Rotate as needed.
  5. Add a layer of marshmallows over the chocolate mousse. Top with the cupcake top and a second layer of the mousse.
  6. Crumble graham crackers on top along with more roasted marshmallows and some chocolate chips.
If you would like to take these with you on a picnic or camping trip, simply add the cupcake and chocolate mousse layers omitting the middle marshmallow layer {just make sure you still keep it chilled!}  Combine mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crumbled graham crackers in a separate container and top when ready to eat.
