I must say that I am not a huge football fan {don’t hate me!}; however, I do enjoy watching the big games and LOVE all of the food that comes with them!!  With the Superbowl fast approaching, I have teamed up with some of my favorite blogging buddies to bring you some awesome game day appetizer ideas as well as a $400 game day prize pack giveaway!

Lots of yummy appetizer ideas - perfect for game day parties.Is your mouth watering yet? 🙂

I know that there is a lot of deliciousness in there but just stick around here a little bit longer.  I’ll be starting off with my Sausage Roll Pinwheels….

Sausage Roll Pinwheels - a little twist on the ol' favorite!
These are so quick and easy to make and are a fun twist from the standard sausage rolls!

Sausage Roll Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 lb. sausage meat  {I like it spicy but you could use mild as well}
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper

Sausage roll pinwheels - a fun twist on an old classic!

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 450 F.
  • Stir the biscuit mix and the onion powder together.  Gradually add the water and mix until it forms a ball.
  • Place the dough ball on a lightly floured surface and knead 6-8 times.  Roll out into a rectangle {approximately 12 x15 inches}
  • Mash up the sausage meat a bit with a fork to make it easier to spread and spread over the dough.

  • Beginning on the long side, roll up the dough like a jelly roll.  Slice into rolls approximately 1/2 inch thick {or just a little less}.

Sausage roll pinwheels.

  • Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet leaving about 1 inch in between them.   Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown.  Makes approximately 30.

    Sounds yummy! Where does the cayenne pepper go; in the dough or the sausage?

    Those Sausage Pinwheels look just like the ones my mom made growing up. We’d always make them as a snack for long road trips.
