Personalized Wedding Gifts

The end of July is definitely the height of the wedding season around here and last weekend Dave and I headed off to my cousin’s wedding at a local golf course.  I must say it was a pretty fun wedding – the weather was just perfect, the bride was gorgeous and there were lots of unique little touches {even Elmo made an appearance!}

These days it seems that money is often at the top of the couple’s wish list rather than all of the traditional registry gifts.  Although I have no problem giving money, I still think it is nice to give something more personal as well.  I remembered this project that I had pinned on Pinterest and thought that it would be the perfect little gift.

I purchased the shadow box down at Superstore and found a nice book of love essays down at the Thrift Store to use for my hearts.  Make sure you like what is actually written on the pages that you are using {cheesy, steamy romance novels may not be the best choice!}.  Old music sheets or a map with the wedding location would also be cool to use.

I cut out 6 hearts and distressed them a bit with brown ink.  I then folded the hearts in half, attached them all along the crease with double sided tape {this way it can be removed if they would rather put some pictures in there at some point}, and folded out the edges.

I used vinyl for the names and wedding date and cut them out on my Silhouette.  These fonts with really thin lines are a pain to work with and each letter had to be pulled out individually.  I’m sure another font would have been much easier!

One more thing to remember – MAKE SURE YOU GET THE WEDDING DATE CORRECT!!!

Yes, the wedding was on the 30th – not the 31st!!  Thank goodness I just used vinyl!
