Christmas Home Tour

You guys!! I’m so excited to get started on the Christmas home tours!  I absolutely LOVE decorating for Christmas and always have so much fun trying to switch things up a bit each year.  And, of course, I always add a few new things too! Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be taking you through our home and showing you all of our Christmas touches {as well as some other beautiful Christmas homes too!}.  I hope you enjoy all of the tours and find some Christmas decorating inspiration for your own home.

Merry and Bright Christmas Front Entry

I totally didn’t plan this, but our front entry is filled with lots of “Merry and Bright” signs and prints. Apparently I really like that phrase!  It wasn’t until I started going through and editing the photos that I realized how many merry and bright references there were. lol!  The phrase is pretty fitting though, as a merry and bright front entry is pretty much what I was going for.  Although I kept the basics fairly neutral, I added a few more pops of red this year and a couple of whimsical touches.  I hope you like it!

Christmas Front Entry Decorating Tips

No matter how big or small a space you have, there are always easy ways to add a little Christmas spirit to your front entry. It’s always so nice to be greeted by a warm and inviting space when you walk in the door at the end of the day!  I’ve put together a few easy Christmas front entry decorating tips that you can use in your home to add that festive touch.

Add a festive pillow.

If you have a front entry bench or chair, change out the pillow for an easy, festive touch.  I try to just purchase the pillow covers when I can so I don’t have too many pillows to store.  Plus, it saves on the cost!

Look for cozy textures.

To add a warm touch to your space, add a few items with some cozy texture.  Hang a pretty scarf or toque or use a throw blanket to add color and warmth.  I always keep a couple of blankets in our front entry anywyas as I’m always needing to grab one as we run out for hockey games!

Add a little whimsy.

Christmas is all about remembering that childhood spirit, so add a little whimsy to your Christmas front entry. I found this little stuffed reindeer at Safeway and fell in love with him.  My friend and I actually had a lot of fun with him at the store – he even got a few selfies!  I also got this cute North Pole Post mailbox this year.  I added the kids letters to Santa that I had kept from when they were younger and it also functions for a little bit of extra storage.

Create a Christmas Vignette

If you have a spare corner or entry table, you can easily create a little Christmas vignette.  Try to find something with some height like this little pencil tree and then decorate around it.

Add some Christmas scents.

Christmas scents totally bring back Christmas memories for me. Pine, peppermint, cinnamon, gingerbread – I love them ALL!  Use a candle, electric diffuser, or a reed diffuser to add your favorite scents to your front entry.  It makes it so nice to come home to!  The Thymes Frasier Fir scent is my absolute favorite and I splurge on a new candle or diffuser each year.

Light it up.

My favorite part of Christmas decor is always the lights! There is nothing prettier than the glow of warm twinkle lights and it just makes everything feel so cozy. You can really add lights to anything. I especially like the battery operated lights with the thin wire so all you see is the glow. Look for lights that have a built in timer so you don’t have to worry about turning them on and off.  I have mine set for 4:00, so they’re just coming on as it starts to get dark.  It definitely makes it much easier to tolerate those short winter days!

I hope you enjoyed the little tour of our Christmas front entry.  It’s just a little taste for what’s to come.  I can’t wait to show it all to you!
