Kids Reading Spaces

I have always loved to read to my kids and both of my boys are big fans of story time.

{Awe.. isn’t he cute?}
As they get older, I want to encourage them to continue reading and exploring books on their own.  We have a ton of books on their bookshelves but I would love to create some sort of comfy reading space for them.  I thought this looked like a nice relaxing space to cuddle up with a book.

Or this super cute, campfire themed reading nook {this is probably more their style!}.

Of course Pottery Barn always has fun options.  The boys would be HUGE fans of the ladder.  Me?  Not so much!

There are definitely a lot of cool book storage ideas out there.  I would really like to have some book storage to allow the books to be front facing.  It makes it so much quicker for the kids to pick out which book they want {and so much easier for them to put it away!}

I love these fabric book holders hung from curtain rods.

And these wooden ones from The Sweet Survival.

Gutter bookshelves would also be an easy {and cheap!} way to create some storage.  This one from the stories of A to Z is created with some gutters and beadboard wallpaper.

Or just some basic gutter shelving like this one from Raising Olives.

I have really been loving all of the posts around blogland lately with old pallets.

Ikea is also another great place to check for storage ideas.  Just $4 each!

So here is my area in Connor’s room that I am hoping to convert into a reading corner.

Now I just have to convince Connor that these guys would be happier in another location.

Unfortunately, Connor is not convinced.  I’ll keep working on him though!

Have a great night!

    Oh my gosh Jenn, I am dying over the cuteness of all of those reading nooks! I feel the same as you with books just kinda floating all over our house, how awesome it would be to have a cute little space to put them all in. I’m SO excited to see how yours turns out!

    I love these ideas. I was just going to do the one Censational Girl did last week. I can always move those to the playroom, and do one of the above ideas in the boys’ room. Thanks for posting!
