Halloween Decorating Ideas

A couple of weeks ago I showed you our fall home tour and now I’m back to give you the updated Halloween version!   I left a lot of the basic fall decorations up and just added the Halloween items to a few areas of the house.

The dining room is the first main room that you see when you come in through the front door so I placed a lot of the decorations in there.   For the past few years, we have done up a fun Halloween dinner the night we carve our pumpkins.  We did it a little earlier this year since I will be away at a course this weekend but here is a little peak at the table…

I’ll have the full dinner up on the blog tomorrow so don’t forget to check back!  {UPDATE: You can find the Halloween diner here.}

The hutch became a mini-laboratory with some candy-filled test tubes.

Lots of Halloween decor ideas!
The buffet on the other side of the dining room also got an update with our Halloween foot print ghosts {I can’t believe how much the kids have grown since then!} and a few other goodies.

Lots of great Halloween decorating ideas!

There’s even a “mini-bar”…

The kids made some egg carton spiders at their after school program this year and picked out a couple of spots for them to hang out…

In the hallway, I swapped out our felt pumpkins for a DIY spooky birdhouse and some yarn and felt spiders and added a couple of foam, glitter bats to the picture frames.

The hutch just off the kitchen is always one of my favorite pieces to decorate.  I stuck with a basic black and white theme and our Halloween Mummy Countdown is happily counting down the days until the big day!

The piano room also got a few Halloween touches including this pillow that I picked up last year at Target and my Halloween treat jar.  I filled the jar up with candy corn – it is pretty much the one candy that nobody likes around here so it is guaranteed not to go missing!

I hope you enjoyed the tour!  Happy haunting!

    hi there, i was wondering if the SPOOKY black and white subway art you have on your mantel has a name or company on the back…..It would go great with my black and white theme
    Thanks

      Sorry! It is packed away somewhere in my Halloween bins in the basement or garage. If you are still looking next Halloween, let me know and I will check! 😉
