Gallery Wall {How to Cover a Thermostat}

Happy Good Friday! Temperatures here are rising and the sun is out – that Spring feeling has finally arrived!  It looks like the weather should hold for the Easter egg hunts on Sunday too! Whoo Hoo!!
So today I thought that I would show you our new gallery wall…
We have lived in our house for over 10 years now and I have never been able to figure out what to do with this wall.  The alarm and thermostat were placed in such an awkward spot on the wall that it was hard to put anything else up and still keep the wall balanced.  Unfortunately they could not be moved and we need easy access to them on a regular basis.  So there the wall sat…

After I made my bunny canvas, I was looking around the house for somewhere to hang it.  I wasn’t having much luck so I came back to this wall.  Since the back of the canvas was hollow it actually fit quite nicely over the thermostat and alarm.  It was definitely a nice hiding place but I was worried about the thermostat not working properly if it was totally covered up.  And then the idea of adding some shelves struck!

Since the canvas is just leaning against the wall, there is still air flow through it and we have had no troubles with the thermostat.  Plus the shelves give me a little extra space to decorate for the holidays!  I’ll be playing around with it a bit more once the Easter decor comes down and plan on making another photo canvas to take the place of the Easter Bunny.

These little faces are so much cuter than the thermostat, don’t you think? 🙂

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend!

    I love the shelves. I’ve been trying to find similar ones for my office. Where did you buy them?

    Hi Jenn, I love your solution! Pretty and fun!

    My thermostat is on a short perpendicular wall, so it seems even more “blaring” to me. I have a small Longerberger basket that slips right over it. Problem solved.

    Have a blessed Easter!

    What a great solution. I wish my hallway was wide enough to do that to it! Cute picture of your boys too!

    I love this idea! I’ve been at a loss with the walls in our apartment since we have a small thermostat in each room. I might just try something like this. We’ll be featuring your idea over at Someday Crafts tomorrow, so pop on over if you have a chance 🙂
