Christmas Mantel

Happy December! Today I’m excited to be partnering with Wayfair.ca to show you our Christmas mantel and the start of our Christmas home tour.

Cozy Christmas cabin Christmas mantel - snowy covered branches with red and white.

I still need to put up our tree before the full Christmas home tour comes out on Monday, but I thought that I would start by showing you our Christmas mantel.  This is always what I start with when I decorate in our family room and it pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the room.

I decided to go with a cozy Christmas cabin style this year for the mantel and really played around with a lot more red than I’m used to.   It definitely makes for a fun and festive atmosphere!

I always start my mantel with a high-quality garland as the base.  It’s a classic piece that can be used year after year and can easily be changed up with different layering pieces as your style changes.  I used this Wayfair.ca pre-lit wintry pine garland and love the light, snow-tipped branches that it has.   Bright pops of red were added with these easy yarn covered foam stars and balanced out with some white snowballs and snowflakes.

I bought our reindeer stocking hangers a few years ago from a local store and they are still one of my favorite pieces to bring out each year.  It’s always fun to mix the new with the old!

This Wayfair.ca Christmas Cabin sign actually started off the whole cabin theme idea.  It ended up being a little bit small for the space on its own, however, so I added some lighted garland around it.  Unfortunately, it covered up the cute arrow design, but I love the extra lights that the garland provides.

Of course, it always looks the prettiest at night when it’s all glowing.  There’s nothing quite like Christmas lights!

I added two Wayfair.ca flocked Pine trees to our alcoves on either side of the fireplace. The trees were so pretty on their own that the decorations were kept fairly simple.  The wool ball garland was from our mantel a couple of years ago and I popped in a few red berry twigs for a little extra shot of red.  A couple of wooden sleds on either side of the stockings finished things off.

I hope you enjoyed the start of our Christmas home tour!  I have so much more to show you so be sure to drop by on Monday and Tuesday for the rest of our holiday home.  Thank-you so much for visiting!
