Give the gift of your time this holiday season with these 12 months of dates!  All of the printables are included – just brainstorm some fun ideas and you’ll have the best Christmas gift for your spouse or kids!

12 Months of Dates Christmas Gift Idea

If you’re looking for a meaningful Christmas gift idea without adding to the accumulation of “stuff”, these 12 months of dates are the perfect gift!  Instead of giving an actual present, put together 12 activities that you and your loved one can do together – one for each month of the year. I did this last year for my husband, but you could also do it for your children or a really good friend or family member that you would like to spend more time with.  The activities can be as extravagant or as low key as you would like. Really it’s just some dedicated time that you will be setting aside each month to spend some time together. 🙂

Non-Material Gift Ideas

The gift of experiences and time spent together is so much more meaningful than material presents. Think of favorite places that you used to go together in the past, or things that you have talked about doing that just never seem to happen.  You could also leave a few “mystery months” in there and plan something extra special too!  Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • dinner out at a favorite restaurant or a restaurant that has special meaning to both of you
  • tickets to a concert
  • a romantic dinner at home {after the kids have gone to bed!}
  • go for a hike with a picnic lunch
  • tickets to a sporting event
  • a night of pampering with their favorite treats and a massage
  • have a movie night {either in or out}
  • do a favorite sporting activity together
  • a weekend getaway
  • game night

12 months of dates. Monthly cards with one activity to do each month. Free Christmas printables included.

I pre-purchased all of the gift cards for dinners, movies, etc. and put them in an envelope with the date card for each month.  You could always just pay as you go though if it is easier on the budget.

Don’t limit this little gift idea for just your spouse though – it is a great gift for the kids and can help cut down on all of that toy clutter!  Include a family movie or game night, a trip to the zoo, dinner {and dessert!} of their choice, an outing to your library to pick out some books, or any other activities that you enjoy doing together.   The possibilities are endless!

Really, there’s no better gift than the gift of your time and it ends up being a lot of fun for both of you! Just remember to actually write the dates on your calendar so you don’t forget to actually do them!  A personalized photo calendar would be another cute gift to go along with this to mark all of the dates directly into the calendar itself. Sometimes just writing things down helps to actually stick with the plan!

If you don’t have enough time to put one together for Christmas, you can always save it for a Valentine’s Day Gift Idea! I put together another Valentine’s Day poem for that one! 🙂

Merry Christmas! xo

      Where did you get the silver envelopes? Also, is the printable versions editable to type in the date instead of handwriting it?

    Just did this for my wife today for VDay. Just a question, does she get to open them up all at once or does she wait for each month before revealing the date?

      So sweet! It’s totally up to you but I love the idea of having it be a surprise each month! I’d just make sure to mark the date on the calendar so it actually happens! Hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

      I’m pretty sure that I got those at Chapters Indigo. Any paper store should have them though. Even plain Kraft ones would be pretty with the twine and a little washi tape.

    Thank you so much for these. We are on a tight budget with six kids at home, so a handmade gift is perfect, and a gift of time ( with no kids) is even better

      Sorry you are having difficulties. I haven’t had any other reports of problems and it seems to be working on my end. Are you using Google Chrome for your browser. I know the other browsers can give problems sometimes – although it is strange that you were able to download the other ones. Let me know if you are still having troubles.

      They’re not technically editable, but they are jpegs so you could use a photo editing program. Hope that helps!
