Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread

  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup grated zucchini (unpeeled) absorb excess moisture with paper towel
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or do half semi-sweet and half milk chocolate


  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a standard loaf pan (8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch) with non-stick cooking spray and set to the side.

  2. In a medium sized mixing bowl, whisk together yogurt, sugar, applesauce, eggs, oil and vanilla until well blended. Stir in the zucchini. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined and all of the dry ingredients are moistened. Do not overmix. Pour evenly into loaf pan.

  5. Bake for 60 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes and then remove and cool on a wire rack.
