Spring and Easter Tablescape

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and time for another 10 Minute Decorating Hop!  This month we are sharing some quick and easy ways to add some Easter touches to your home.  There are some beautiful ideas so be sure to check out all of the links at the end of the post!

Today, I am going to be showing you a couple of easy spring and Easter tablescape ideas.  I love decorating for Spring and, as you can see in the background, the bunnies have already invaded our home.  I’m going to focus on the tablescape for today but will give you a full tour of the dining room next week.

I put together this simple center piece with an old crate, some glass bottles, and a mix of faux and real stems.  For the faux stems {the white flowers}, I used some wire cutters to trim down a large stem into smaller pieces.  I then put some clear nailpolish at the end of the stems {a trick from one of my readers last fall!} so that they don’t rust out the water.  Even when I am just using faux stems, I still like to add water if they are clear vases so it looks more realistic.

It’s still a little early in the season, but our forsythia bush in our backyard is starting to bloom so I cut some branches from that to add to the centerpiece.  The yellow really brightens it up and adds that spring touch!

For the rest of the table, I added a couple of tulip plants {that will hopefully bloom soon!}, a couple of small ceramic bunnies, and my bunny salt and pepper shakers.  The bunny table runner was a find from Home Sense last week.

I’m just hoping that our little kitty, Abby, doesn’t destory everything before we have a chance to enjoy it.  She seems to have a fascination with all things spring and has knocked over the bottles a couple of times {as well as chewed up the tulip stems!}.

For the place settings, I folded up some white napkins into a rosebud.  They are super easy to do and only take a minute or two.

ROSEBUD NAPKIN FOLDING

  • Lay out the napkin in a square and fold diagonally to make a triangle.

  • With the bottom of the triangle {longest edge} facing you, roll up the napkin just over half way to the point.

  • Flip over the napkin so the fold is on the bottom.

  • Starting from the left hand point, fold over the end about 1 inch and continue to fold over until you reach the other point.

  • Fold down the two flaps at the top of the napkin to form the petals.

If you want to do name cards for the place settings, try writing on a faux egg for a unique look. I picked these ones up at Michaels and they can easily be painted over if you wanted to re-use them.

Hi Jenn – Love the rosette napkin fold. It looks complex when finished, but your tutorial shows just how easy it is.

What a cute little Abby. I am sure she thinks all your decorating is just wonderful to prance and play on. 🙂
