Table Centerpiece

Happy Friday!! The weekend is here and the sun is out!! The boys will be heading out camping with Dave on Sunday and I will have the house to MYSELF!!! One whole day of relaxation coming up!

I have been spending some time lately doing some much needed decorating in our piano room {more on that to follow}.  Although I have bought a few new pieces, many of the items have just been taken from other areas of the house.  Isn’t it always fun shopping around your own place?

Well, I kind of stole the centerpiece from our dining room table and things were looking a little bare.  So I did a little more house shopping and came across a wooden box in our garage that my Mom had given me over a year ago {they can be found at Jysk for $4}.  Perfect for a little makeover!

I painted the box with a couple of coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in pure white and sanded things down a bit.

I found this French wine label on Etsy at Antique Graphique and transferred it on to the box using a simple wax paper transfer method.  I must add that I had more difficulty printing the image out without it smudging this time than I did on my first project.  I have no idea why but I kind of like the imperfections anyways.
I then gave it all a coat of wax and one final sanding, added some tropical plants {that are easy to keep alive!} and it is all good to go!

Has anyone else been doing some good house shopping lately?

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!  See you soon!!

Hi Jenn–This winecrate with the beautiful graphic is just beautiful, and I want to try making something like this–so pretty! Thank you for the helpful tips, because I am new to working with transfers.

That looks great, Jenn! Love the graphic and the greenery you added. It is the perfect touch. I haven’t tried the wax paper method yet; I’m still working on perfecting the Mod Podge transfer method! 🙂
