Christmas Book Advent

Yay!! It's December 1st! Time to start all of those advent calendars! 

We are doing another book advent this year and I have been meaning to share our books with you.  We kept a lot of the same books from last year of course, but have taken some of the younger books away and added in some new ones.   If you are just starting your collection, you can just do a 12 Days of Christmas advent and add on to it each year.  Scholastic Books has a great assortment of Christmas books at very reasonable prices and you can always check out the local library for some of the books as well.  

Here is what we have wrapped up....

• December 2 - Johann's Gift to Christmas by Jack Richards {I love this book and remember reading it when I was a child}
• December 3 - There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell by Lucille Colandro
• December 4 - Finding Christmas by Robert Munsch {If you have not read Robert Munsch books with your kids you really should - my boys love them!}
• December 5 - Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer adapted by Rick Bunsen {One of my favorite Christmas shows!}
• December 6  - Olive the Other Reindeer by Vivian Walsh and J. Otto Seibold
• December 7 - A Wish to be a Christmas Tree by Colleen Monroe
• December 8 - Merry Christmas Curious George by Margaret and H.A. Rey
• December 9 - A Pirate's Night Before Christmas by Phillip Yates
• December 10 - Clifford's Christmas by Norman Birdwell
• December 11 - The Grinch Who Stole Christmas by Dr. Suess
• December 12 - Santa Mouse by Michael Brown
  
• December 13 - The Penguin that Wanted to be Different by Maria O'Neill
  
• December 14 - Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire by Mel Tourme
  
• December 15 - The Crunchy, Munchy Christmas Tree by Karen Gray Ruelle
  
• December 16 - Froggy's Best Christmas by Jonathon London
  
• December 17 - What Santa Can't Do by Douglas Wood
  
• December 18 - Was That Christmas by Hilary McKay and Amanda Harvey
• December 19 - How Santa Got His Job by Stephen Krensky
• December 20 - The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg {We will be watching the movie the next day}
• December 21 - Little Puppy Lost by Alison Edgson
• December 22 - Mater Saves Christmas by Kiel Murray {as told by Mater!}
• December 23 - Who's That Knocking on Christmas Eve by Jan Brett
• December 24 - The Night Before Christmas - Clement C. Moore

I wrapped up all of our books, added a number tag for each day, and put them in a basket with the Grinch's best friend, Max.

If you would like the number tags, you can download numbers 1-12 here and numbers 13-24 here. You can punch them out in a jiffy with a 2 inch circle punch.

We are all looking forward to reading Elf on the Shelf tonight and are having a welcome breakfast for our little elf Paint in the morning. :)
