Hello!! I hope you all had a fun filled Halloween! If you are anything like me, you definitely got your fill of chocolate!! I do not envy all of those poor teachers today... :)
Now that Halloween has passed, I am getting super excited to move onto some Christmas crafting. You will still have wait just a little bit longer though because the next week will be all about Thanksgiving!
I love celebrating for the holidays but I have never really done much for Thanksgiving. Our Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated at the beginning of October and just does not seem to be as big a holiday up here as it is in the States. So this year, with the help of Pinterest, I decided to take on some turkey crafts with the boys!
One of the first projects we made were these turkeys for Connor's class {thanks to Pink Ink Doodle}. They actually go together really quickly and I think they are pretty cute!
MATERIALS
- tulle {I found some 9" round tulle circles at the dollar store which worked perfectly!}
- Reese's Pieces or M&Ms in fall colors
- pipe cleaners {yellow, orange, brown, and red}
- google eyes
- glue {I used Quick Grip}
- small clear hair elastics {also much cheaper at the dollar store!}
TO DO
- Place your candies in the middle of the tulle circles and secure closed with the elastic bands. Leave enough excess tulle to form the "feathers" in the back.
- To form the head, cut the brown pipe cleaner to approximately 6 inches. Roll up the pipe cleaner leaving about 2 inches at the end.
- Cut a piece of the orange pipe cleaner to form the beak {just over 1 inch}and wrap it around the outer coil of the brown pipe cleaner.
- Cut a red piece of pipe cleaner for the wattle and glue google eyes on either side of the beak.
- For the feet, cut a yellow pipe cleaner to approximately 8 inches and fold the end into three toes.
Now you just have to stick the body parts into your tulle. Easy peasy!!
These would also be great to decorate up a kids' table.

That is so cute and crafty!
That is too freakin adorable!!!! Too bad Canadian Tahnksgiving has passed. :(
Those are so cute! They look really easy to put together as well.
Super-cute! And not just for the kiddos -- I want one, too!
Very sweet - literally and figuratively! I make a fairly huge deal out of Thanksgiving, but I think you're right about it being not quite as big a deal up here! I've noticed that with Halloween as well. I went down to Buffalo a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe what you could get down there for Halloween!
Those are so cute! I'm pinning them .... they'd be a great addition to the kids' table at Thanksgiving.
oh my goodness Jenn !! those are fabulous!! you always have the most creative ideas!!!! :)
so lovely and cute little Turkey. It's not only for Halloween but it is also fit for any occasions. It can be a decoration as a stuff and I know that kids will love it.

These are SO darn cute and what a great idea for a kid's treat to share at school since they are relatively simple. Pinned! Thank you!
Gobble Gobble! So cute!
Question... When you stick the pipecleaners into the tulle does it rip easily at that spot (I'm picturing an avalanche of Reese's all over the floor)?
I wasn't going to make Thanksgiving favors this year and now I have to. These are just to cute! Thank you so much for sharing.
