I Have a Fun Side Too....

Hello my friends! Another weekend has come and gone and we are once again back to a new week!  I sure wish those weekends could last just a wee bit longer...

As most of you know, I am in the process of re-doing our master bedroom.  I am finally feeling like I am in the home stretch and just have a few more projects to finish up.  Pretty much everything in the bedroom has been painted.  I've shown you the dark bedroom furniture, the white dresser and now it is time for a little color!

I did contemplate painting my dresser some really fun color.  I've seen so many fabulous ones on other blogs and through Pinterest.  But, in the end, I just couldn't do it and ended up going white.  Sometimes what you love in other people's spaces just isn't you.

I do have some fun in me though, so I didn't want to go completely colorless!  When I was picking up my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint for the bed, I had my eye on the beautiful Provence paint.  I loved the blue but knew I  probably wouldn't be able to use a whole container of it.  Well, lucky for me, the store actually sold smaller sample sizes for $12.  SOLD!!

I had a stool that I had "borrowed" from my parents house that had been sitting out in the garage since last summer.  I can't really remember what my initial plans were for it but thought it would be a great little piece to paint for the bedroom.

It was actually in really good condition so I banged it up a bit with a hammer and a screw driver to give it a little more of a weathered look.

I gave it a couple of coats of the Provence ACSP and then played around with the wax a bit.

I first applied one coat of clear wax.  I then used a little dark wax in places and then rubbed off the access with some of the clear wax again.  {If you are looking for some waxing tutorials, there are a couple of great ones over at Perfectly Imperfect that I found really helpful}  It's kind of hard to see the effect in the pictures but I really liked the added shabbiness from the dark wax.

The next day, I did some distressing and my little stool was good to go!

And now it is all tucked in the corner adding that little bit of color!

I also painted a picture frame {that will be going in the attached master bathroom as soon as I get around to ordering a picture} and my canvas photo art with the same sample size and should have enough paint left to do one more project.  I am thinking of maybe painting this stool that is in one of the other corners as well.

What do you think?  Natural look or blue?  I could also paint it white or white wash it too...

Too many decisions!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and I hope to see you for the link up tomorrow night!

I knew you had some color in you Jenn! I love that blue- so pretty and peaceful! Hard choice on the other stool. I love it weathered, but white and the blue as well would be gorgeous. Flip a coin for it- thats how we make all our decisions! :) Have a great week! Jen

I really like the turquoise stool you already did, but I think I would leave the other one the way it is. It has such a great look in it's current condition!

So awesome what a simple stool can do to complete a look. As for the other table, I'd be tempted to keep it natural although white washing it would be gorgeous!
