Baby Boy Shower

Last weekend I hosted a baby shower for a good friend of mine.  We've been friends since way back in Kindergarten.  I won't tell you exactly how many years that is, but let's just say we have been friends for a while.  She is expecting a sweet baby boy and we are all getting excited for his arrival!

I must say that Pinterest has pretty much ruined my idea of what a cute baby shower looks like. There are just SO many beautifully themed showers out there and SO many ideas!!  With limited time and a limited budget, it can be a little hard {and frustrating!} to re-create and I always have way more ideas planned than I actually have time to complete.  So...here is what I actually got done.

For the decorations, I tried to use things that the Mommy-To-Be would be able to use afterwards.

  1. Shower Keepsake Album - I had sections for Guests {where they could also write their addresses for thank-you cards}, Gifts, and Photos.
  2. Diaper Cake - I know these have been around for a while but I still love them!
  3. Subway Art - The subway art was printed from Simple Crafter and placed in an Ikea frame.
  4. Little Sprout Milestone Album - This is a simple album to document baby's monthly milestones for the first year.  We all know how much babies change in the first year! {I'll show you more of the two albums on Saturday.}
I have been wanting to try these Martha Stewart tissue poms for a while.  They look really cute and are as easy to make as they seem.  I did three in various sizes and would have loved to do some more if I had another 30 minutes to spare.

I also made these little Words of Wisdom cards for people to write down some thoughts for the new parents {they ended up being included in the Baby shower album from above}.

I had lots of help with the food {word of my cooking abilities must have gotten out!}

But I did have fun at the drink table though!  I probably should have done a blue drink but I really like this pink one {raspberry sorbet and 7Up}.

{You can read about the lemon ice cubes here}

You can't really have a baby shower without playing those baby shower games.  My party planning partner was in charge of the games and came up with this "birth your baby" ice cube game.

A little creepy but fun to play! Everyone had a cold drink that the ice cubes were placed in and the first one to get their baby out of the ice cube won.  Definitely the easiest childbirth you will go through!

Baby received tons of fabulous gifts including a new library of baby books.  I have read books with my kids ever since they were little babies and book time is still one of my favorite times with them.  There is nothing like quiet, cuddly kiddies just before bed!  We had everyone bring one of their favorite children's books and I painted some Ikea spice racks to use as bookshelves for the baby's room.  Baby got some great books! {I still cannot read through Love Your Forever without crying}

And here's the beautiful Mommy-To-Be with one of my favorite gifts.  Love those sock monkeys!

I think that about wraps up what I have been doing for the past week.  The Christmas crafts are coming out tomorrow!!!

It looks like a great baby shower. I have a Love You Forever story for you. I bought the book at a conference and came home to read it to my children - who were prob early teens. I choked up and couldn't finish, so my son took the book from me and finished reading it to his sister and me. I still get that mushy feeling when I see that book.

What a nicely done shower! I am like you where I have so many great ideas, but not enough time to get them all done!

what a great shower! Those babies are creepy, but I can see that being a fun "game" to play!
