Scrapbook Saturday No. 10 - Halloween Costume Mini Album

One of my FAVORITE things about Halloween is seeing the kids all dressed up in their costumes {especially when they were really little!}.  It's always fun looking back at Halloween costumes of the past and seeing how your kids have changed throughout the years.  So...I created this little mini album for Matthew to hold all of his pictures.  Can you tell that I love mini albums?

MATERIALS
  • double sided scrapbook paper {mine is mostly The Apothecary Emporium from Echo Park and the purple paper/monster is from Bo Bunny}
  • paper cutter and scorer
  • ribbon
  • embellishments of your choice {again mine are from The Apothecary Emporium line}
  • black ink
  • sanding block
  • glue
  • double sided tape
  • pop dots {optional}
TO DO
  • Cut your scrapbook paper into 4 x 12 inch strips.  I used 3 strips but you could always use more if you would like more pages. Score every 3 inches and accordian fold the strips.
  • Glue the ends of the strips together overlapping the first and last page of each strip.  Make sure the folds line up.
  • Fold your album up. Cut out some ribbon so that it will wrap around your album and tie at the side.  Using double sided tape, attach your ribbon to either the front or back cover {this is the method that I did} This will allow the album to fold out accordian style {or form into a star} and will give you access to both the front and backs sides of your pages.  If you would like it to open like a regular book, adhere the ribbon to both the front and back covers.
  • Now just have fun decorating your album!  I chose to do one page of journalling and one photo for each year {wallet sized photos work great} Use pop dots to attach some of the embellishments for extra dimension.  I also either inked {with black ink} or sanded the edges of all my papers.  The photos look really great with sanded edges too!  I have some extra pages in the album to add pictures from upcoming years too.

{Ah!  He was SO CUTE!!!}

I am making something a little different for Connor's photos.  Check back next Saturday for that one!

I WISH I would have done something like this when my kid was little. Alas, she's 18 now and I can't even remember which year she was a princess or a witch, etc. This is darling and would make a cute idea for grandparents gift too

Your scrapbook paper cut into 4 × 12 inches with. I used three, but you can always use, if you want to know more pages. Scores every 3 inches and accordion folding bar.
