Teacher Gifts

Well Matthew has officially finished grade 1 and we headed out to see Disney Cars to celebrate!  I did enjoy it but it was definitely a lot more complicated than the first one and I'm not really sure how much the kids actually understood.  That being said, they did seem to like it and anything that can keep my kids entertained for 2 hours is all good in my books! :)

So the last day of school also means coming up with something to give the teacher.  My creative juices have been sucked a little dry lately so I did a little blog hopping to come up with some inspiration!  Seriously there are so many cute ideas out there!  Since I had made owl treat bags for the kids, I thought I would stick with the owl theme for Matthew's teacher as well.

I got the idea from Lisa Storms and added my own personal owl touch!  All you need is a paper bag, some scrapbook paper, and a few basic supplies and you are "owl" set.  {Sorry, I can't seem to get enough of these cheesy sayings!}

I love the color combos on this paper from My Mind's Eye.  I've kind of been hoarding it for a while but decided that it was time to take the plunge and cut it!  The eyes are made from a 3 inch scallop punch and 3 other circle punches.  I free handed the beak and feet and attached them with double sided tape.  I used some scalloped edged scissors on the paper for the tummy and rolled the ends up for more of a 3-D effect for the feathers {although it is hard to tell from the photos}

I loaded up the bag with some yummy bath products and a gift card for Starbucks and then folded the top down.  I trimmed the corners off the bag to form a triangle, punched a hole in the top of the bag and tied it closed with a ribbon.

For Matthew's teacher aide, I bought a re-usable plastic cup from Superstore, filled it with some lemonade packets and a Starbuck's gift card, and added some vinyl to the front {downloaded from the Silhouette site}. The tag was also downloaded from Lisa Storms {she really does have some really cute ideas!}

Okay Mr. Sun....school is now officially out and our patience is starting to wear thin.  Please, please give us some Fun in the Sun!

You are so nice. I wish I would have gotten something this nice when I was a teacher. One year I did not even get any Christmas gifts. That's when I knew I'd had enough! I know your child's teacher and aide REALLY appreciated this.

The owl theme is adorable. I love how you customized the cup using the vinyl. I am so jealous of you folks with the various vinyl cutting machines.

I see that you are talking about Superstore so you must be Canadian! What a hoot these are! We love owls and that is the theme I used for my youngest's first birthday. Great job! Now I have a reason to splurge on a scallop punch :)
